Fare Thee Well
Alas, the beloved engineer who has kept the U.S.S. Enterprise intact and running smooth for over 50 years passed away this week. James Doohan, affectionately known as engineer Montgomery Scott, died at age 85 in his home out in Washington.
Scotty was one of my favorite characters. His Scottish brogue and "miracle worker" persona brought a great sense of charm to the series. We were talking about him in class yesterday. One of my favorite episodes from the Original Series, "The Doomsday Machine," features Scotty repairing a damaged starship enough to get it running, plus a little more. He came through in a pinch, right when they needed him most. I wonder if I will be able to do that as an engineer someday.
Farewell, Scotty. You will be missed.

Hey, Kuato! Thanks for your comment on my blog - I had resonded your last comment, but on my own blog instead of yours, so I guess you didn't see it. It's true I am pretty busy, but to be honest (please don't be offended, I promise it's not you personally) I tend to hang on to my e-mail when it's people I don't know. But I still love to hear your comments and appreciate the encouragement from another believer. I hope things at school are going well - sounds pretty crazy with 20 credits. Let's encourage each other this way for a while, OK? Be assured of my prayers for you with all the busyness.
Karyn
PS - I can't believe Scotty's dead! Did you know he was Vancouver-born? (Yay, Vancouver!) And not Scottish at all, but thought the character should be Scottish, since he was an engineer. Weird, eh?

Hey, bro! Thanks for your comment and your graciousness about mine - I appreciate it a lot. It's late so this is short, but I just had to say that this was my favourite part of the comment:
"Lord, please let Karyn know that wasn't meant to sound creepy"
LOL! Too funny....
Goodnight!
:)
